Granny
Granny was one of the first rescues for Mid South. She came from a Kentucky shelter where she was turned in as a stray. We had her for 3 short years. She had numerous physical problems and she struggled daily just to get around...but she did. She even made a rather awkward attempt to run. She woke us up many nights barking...but that was the only way she could let us know she was in need of something..usually a quick bite to eat or a drink. I always laid down where she could see me. That always brought her comfort. 9/23/09 was her last day with us. She had been declining and it was clear to me that her time had come. She comforted me by licking my hand while we waited at the vet's office. She went peacefully and I was with her until the end. We loved her for 3 years and love her still. She will be missed for a long time to come.

Daisy
Daisy is my personal baby. I adopted her from the shelter I worked at. She was never really healthy, we think she must have been a puppy mill puppy. She scooted over and made room for Eskies time and time again. She was not the most loveable little girl in the world but we loved her just the same. She's very much missed.

HOPE
We first met Hope the day after Thanksgiving in 2005. She was a very tiny, deformed, blind puppy. Her blindness was caused by her eyelids, which were turned under....brought about by her mal-nutrition. Her hind legs had no tendon formations. Also caused by mal-nutrition. We had hoped to install her in a little cart if she made it. She gained a small amount of weight but wasn't able to process the more solid foods. She died shortly before Christmas. She was our little Christmas angel.

Butterball
Butterball was a very unassuming senior we took in from the Young-Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, Tn. She was as round as she was tall. She was only with us for a little over a week. Her health was not the best and deteriorated quickly. She was diagnosed with pneumonia. Between her weight and age she just couldn't fight it off. She died 2/10/07 in her sleep. Butterball was with us for just a short time....but we miss her. Her daily goal was to walk around the yard and sleep in front of the heater. Sadly, our camera died and we were unable to get a picture of her. We will miss you Butterball.
