Note to adopters: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person.

We hope to make adopting an Eskie from Mid South Eskie Alliance as efficient as possible.  There is an application to fill out.  We do check vet references and do home visits.  Please do not let this process scare you.  We are only interested in the welfare of our rescued Eskies and we know you are too.  Many of these dogs come from horrible conditions and have received little or no care or love.  We only want the best for them and for you also.  Our adopters needs are also foremost in our minds.  A happy adopter makes for a happy Eskie.

Please note that we reserve the right to deny an application that we do not deem appropriate.  Just because you apply does not mean that you will get the dog you are applying for.   We do our best to match the right dog with the right adopter.

All dogs will be fully vetted, housebroken and microchipped.

The fees are as follows:

Puppies:  $275.00
Adults 1-5 years  $200.00
Adults 5-10 years $175.00
Adults over 10 years:  $75.00
Fees are non-refundable.

Special needs Eskies will be on as determined basis.  We take into account the ongoing needs of these dogs.

We have a program for Senior Citizens in which a senior Eskie, one that is over 10 years old, may be adopted for the reduced fee of $75.00.

If you are disabled and disability is your only income we may be able to reduce the adoption fee.  This will done on a case-by-case basis.

As you can see our adoption fees are reasonable.  We fully vet our dogs and this is very expensive.  We do not profit from our adoption fees.  Compare adoption fees with other rescues and you will see that our fees are very competitive.  We are in this to save Eskies...nothing more, nothing less.

We do not have processing fees as some rescues do..When using Paypal please add 3% to adoption fee. This is what Paypal charges. Also adopters who adopt a second dog within one year get  a $25 discount.

Mid South Eskie Alliance, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization and we depend on the generousity of people such as you to help us continue to help the American Eskimo Dog.

Please think carefully before adopting one of our dogs.  Please think before filling out the application.  We spend a lot of time working with each adopter and we hate to get up our hopes and the hopes of our dogs.  Don't think they don't know what is going on....they do.  We also plan our shelter pulls around the dogs being adopted.  If you agree to adopt and then back out we might have to back out on a dog sitting in a kill shelter.  That is not fair to anyone.  It is devastating to us and to the shelter staff.  It is a death sentence to either the Eskie in the shelter or the dog who was waiting for that kennel.  Your actions have a direct effect on everyone involved in rescue.  We are not trying to discourage you from adopting...in fact, we thank you for adopting a rescued dog.  We just want to make sure the decision is well thought out.
